Plans has been filled for the newest Costco location in West Henderson. The store will be on the South Side of St. Rose Parkway & Amingo Street just north of Executive Airport. Plans are to build a 150,000-square-foot warehouse with a 10 pump gas station and 750 parking spots.
The developer Joe Kennedy of J.A. Kennedy expects breaking ground the second quarter of 2017 and store opening spring 2018.
Costco is a wholesale store that sells everything from groceries and furniture, to electronics, flowers, clothing, jewelry and much more. Costco focuses on selling products at low prices, often at very high volume. Costco is the second largest U.S. retailer by revenue, and as its rivals have struggled, Costco drew 4.7% more shoppers to stores in the quarter from a year ago.
The warehouse giant primary source of profit is in it’s membership fees, not sales from its 686 stores. Membership revenue allows Costco to offer discounted products and gasoline to organic produce drawing more people to its stores. In the latest period, membership fees rose 2.2% to $785 million.
“This is great news for nearly residents in Inspirada, Silverado Ranch, Southern Highlands, Seven Hills, and Anthem” said local Henderson Realtor Ace Apichard who specializing in this area. “When a store like Costco opens, it usually brings on about 200 jobs to our local economy.”
Costco already has four locations in the valley, three in Las Vegas and one in Henderson by the Galleria Mall. Store officials won’t say when the newest Costco location in West Henderson will open or how much the project will cost, but nearby residents are anxiously waiting.
